A Framework for Discernment
Personal reflection · John 5:19–20, 30
You came here because: I am facing a difficult decision

Observe
Jesus repeatedly spoke of His dependence on the Father. He stated that the Son could do nothing “of his own accord” but only what He sees the Father doing (John 5:19).
His practices reflected this alignment. The Gospels record that He withdrew for prayer before significant moments, such as when He spent an entire night in prayer before selecting the twelve apostles.
He did not portray Himself as an autonomous decision-maker. Instead, He modeled a pattern in which decisions remain continually accountable to mission, truth, and His relationship with the Father.

Examine
Pray
Ask God for the humility to slow down and see your decisions through the lens of mission, truth, and love for people.
- Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity about what you may be overlooking.
- Bring the people affected by this decision into prayer.
Discernment pause
A brief pause to slow the decision down.
- What do I know to be true?
- What am I assuming?
- Who is affected?
- What may be influencing me?
- What would alignment require?
- What deserves prayer before action?
